Efficiency assessment of biological treatment of sewage wastewater and their ability to remove heavy metal

The present study focus on treatment of domestic wastewater without causing environmental hazards and get benefits from using the treated water. In this regard, the current study aimed to investigat and evaluate the ability of most predominant microorganism (bacteria, cyanobacteria and algae ) from 4 wastewater treatment plants in Gharbia Governorate. The results revealed the highest ability of single bacterial cultures of Rhizobium radiobacter and Sphingomonas paucimobilis to treat domestic wastewater than mixed ones and activated sludge which used in purification system of water treatment stations. Chlorella vulgaris was proven to be the most effective one during water purification and removal of heavy metal with efficiency greater than that of activated sludge, bacterial strains and their mixture.
